ANGEL SWIM #REVIEW…
Posted by Kat Heath on 20 Sep 2024
Last week I had the absolute pleasure of taking my youngest son, Elliott (6) to participate in an Angel Swim Swimming lesson in Cheam.
Elliott was a toddler during the covid pandemic which meant swimming lessons were not available during the time I desperately wanted him to learn to swim. Unfortunately shortly after he endured a range of operations on his arm which has meant he has been in and out of plaster for 2 years. These two factors have had a big impact on him learning to swim consistently and therefore relying on arm bands.
With that in mind, Angel Swim sessions were a great opportunity for Elliott to build his confidence in the water without the limitations of arm bands.
From booking the session to attending the process was faultless and communication was excellent. I was initially given a form to complete which gave me an opportunity to explain Elliott’s limitations and his level of ability in the water. From that information they selected a group suited to him, which are no bigger than 4 children per class.
The small class sizes gave me great confidence as a parent and also ensures that the children are receiving concentrated levels of attention from the instructor, resulting in greater progress, in particular if your child has limited swimming ability or is nervous in the water.
We arrived at the venue which was stunning and spotlessly clean.
A warm private pool with beautiful changing facilities and a lovely seating area for parents/carers to watch.
The pool was the perfect size for Elliott’s class of four!
Each child is given one to one time in the water using aids but NOT arm bands, the instructor instructs them and gently guides them supporting them throughout each part of the lesson.
Elliott was smiling throughout (as seen on the pictures!)

I was absolutely amazed at how much progression Elliott made in one lesson, his instructor; Summer was amazing, she had a caring, nurturing approach with all 4 of the children ensuring they felt safe in the water. This was a big contrast to my early memories of my swimming lessons where there would be 15-20 children in one class being pushed into the water, an approach which still feels me with dread to this day!
Elliott is already looking forward to his next session on Tuesday with Adam and Summer. He really thoroughly enjoyed it, which is what it’s all about!
