I have a fear of needles, and I’ll just put that out there because when Dee first asked me to visit Bodyfix Clinic to try out acupuncture that was my immediate reaction.

But I was also full of curiosity about this (apparently brilliant) technique. I’d looked into it for years, but had always chickened out due to my fears. However, as someone who is trying harder to live without any regrets in my life, I thought I’d give it a go – and if I was okay, I felt like that was more reassuring for anyone else.

And suffice to say, I loved it. Lu Zhao, the acupuncturist at Bodyfix Clinic was lovely – from the minute I met her, I knew that we’d get on. She was so informative and willing to share her wisdom during the session. And we also shared a few laughs too.

She focuses on integrating Traditional Chinese Medicine and Five Element Acupuncture. And explained the background of the practices, as well as why she uses them – I felt really safe and fully informed before we started.

The session started with a chat about health concerns, and at the moment I am fortunate to not suffer any aches and pains (which acupuncture can help), but then we moved on to other aspects that affect our health and well-being.

Sleep is something that I really battle with, which led to more questions on lifestyle and diet; and we started unpacking and understanding my body’s cues and its inability to settle at night. I found it all very fascinating. Our bodies are incredible.

Then came the needles… and I can hand on heart say that only 3 of the 10+ needles were a LITTLE stingy, not painful, and they were areas that I needed to focus on. I felt like I floated out of Bodyfix Clinic, slept better last night, and I’m actively taking Lu’s lifestyle advice on board. Plus looking forward to booking my next visit.
