ACUPUNCTURE @ THE BODYFIX CLINIC, REPAIR RECOVER RELIVE #REVIEW…
Posted by Juliet Wheater on 20 Jul 2024
BodyFix based on Stoneleigh Broadway, is a clinic borne from the desire to provide a unique therapeutic service to the local community and surrounding areas. The ethos of the clinic, which offers many experts under the one roof, is that every patient should have the opportunity to tell their story whether that be physical elements to health or the emotional aspect which can play a part in getting better. The Bodyfix founders and their team of experts, strongly believe that a patient’s positive view of their own health is the ultimate measure of success.
I was delighted to recently visit Bodyfix and really feel like it’s a one stop shop to so many. Accessible too, as the clinic is open 6 days a week with early morning, late evening and Saturday morning appointments available at short notice and always within 24 hours.

All of the BodyFix therapists are fully trained, qualified and registered with their governing or regulatory bodies and offer treatments such as:
– Sports Massage
– Mummy MOT
– Mobility Fix
– Nutritional Advice
– Osteopathy
– Paediatric Osteopathy
… as well as Acupuncture, which I had volunteered to experience.
As a busy working mum of two of a certain age, my perimenopausal symptoms had been increasing and combined with the fine line that I need to walk to keep my ulcerative colitis disease in check, I had experienced the benefits of acupuncture, many years prior and I was keen to see if a further treatment would benefit me now.
I was introduced to practitioner Victoria Busk and with her warm welcoming smile, felt immediately at ease. Victoria’s expertise is considerable, having first studied reflexology, massage and pilates instruction, she graduated from the London College of Traditional Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine gaining a BSc (Hons) degree and license to practice (LicAc).
Victoria has a special interest in working with women’s health including menopause, gynaecology, female and male fertility, assisted conception and pregnancy, and she has undertaken specialist training in these areas with some of the worlds leading practitioners. Victoria also enjoys working with many other more general health conditions including anxiety, stress, aches and pains, sciatica, digestive issues, arthritis, addictions and sleep disorders.

I was intrigued to understand, that she has also undertaken further training in cosmetic facial acupuncture, including facial cupping, massage and gua sha.
Victoria is a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC), the UK’s largest regulatory body for Traditional acupuncture practitioners and abides by their strict codes of practice and safety.
Ahead of my visit to the Bodyfix Clinic, I filled out an online form answering several health questions, about my issues and concerns but was delighted by the consultation that I had directly with Victoria. We spoke at length about my sleep patterns and the fact that I suffer with chronic fatigue, my nutrition, the stresses that can trigger an ulcerative colitis flare up (a condition that I’ve had to manage for 20 years – some years more successfully than others!) and more recently the rollercoaster ride that is perimenopause! I gained more of an understanding that although I do prioritse my sleep, taking time out for just a few minutes during each busy day, will bring down cortisol levels and even eating my meals more slowly, will have a beneficial impact to my digestion, important for my often heighten inflammation.

After good discussion, I lay on the bed whilst Victoria deposited needles mainly to my feet! Also two to my stomach, arms and one to my head! I learnt that many acupuncture points on the toes, feet and ankles, invigorate the qi and blood, and rebalance the energy flow to relieve pain, increase blood circulation and sensation, and to relieve swelling and inflammation. (There’s that word again!). Victoria strategically placed her needles on me for improved circulation, the reduction of stress and the boosting of my energy levels. I slept so soundly that night and due to having enjoyed a deep, uninterrupted sleep, I enjoyed more energy the following day and put into practise, Victoria’s suggestion of movement away from my computer to prolong such energy levels, something that I will definitely practise going forwards.

Many people come to acupuncture for help with specific symptoms or to relieve specific pains like osteoarthritis of the knee. Some use acupuncture because they feel generally unwell but have no obvious diagnosis. Others choose acupuncture simply to enhance their feeling of wellbeing. I benefitted from acupuncture all those years ago and benefitted again last week, I won’t leave my next visit so long.
