I have been going to Bourne Hall with or without my children since we first moved here 18 years ago.  Whether it was a visit to feed the ducks and enjoy some fresh air, or pop to the library.  When the kids were toddlers we loved rhyme time, story telling or reading books and had many visits to the cafe for tea and cake 🙂 .  I have also used a few of the services that hire rooms at the venue and visited many events/fairs that have taken place there.  So it is fair to say I’ve been there A LOT and I’m pretty sure feeding the ducks is going to be a lasting childhood memory for all three of my children.

Recently it has been great to see so many positive changes to make it a more relevant community space.  Changes have included the re-development of the cafe now known as the Flying Saucer Cafe, the outdoor seating area towards the back of the library over looking the green.  There is also many events taking place including the regular Cash in the Wardrobe market, a great sustainability event held on the 3rd of the month for the local community to sell their nearly newly new clothing.  Recently they have held many family friendly festive activities which have included Father Christmas (9th and 16th December), lights switch on and performances from local dance schools and more.

The latest addition to Bourne Hall is a new playground suitable for children 8 years and under, Bourne Hall say:

“We are pleased to announce Bourne Hall’s playground is now finished!  The project has been one of many carried out to ensure Bourne Hall remains an integral part of the community for all the family.

We hope our littlest residents get a lot of joy from this latest addition.”

Sadly my children are far too old for the playground now but this is a super addition and I’m sure many children are going to enjoy it and create many memories there.
