A COSY WINTER NIGHT @ CIAO ITALIA #REVIEW…

Posted by Devenia Besant on 12 Jan 2024

With the evenings so dark and bitterly cold at the moment it’s so easy to shut the door to the world, wrap up warm and stay indoors but I’m so glad we didn’t do just that on Monday evening by accepting an invite to the ever popular Ciao Italia located in the heart of Banstead.

This local Italian favourite never disappoints, I’ve been there many times and the ambience is always great whether it’s Summer, Spring, Autumn or Winter. The staff are always welcoming with the right level of attentiveness.

They have an extensive drinks list from classic cocktails, wines and spirits, beers and ciders you name it they have it 😊 but as I’m participating in dry January I opted for a Mocktail, a Mojito other Mocktail options included:

▪️Spice 94 – seedlip spice, grapefruit and rosemary tonic and fresh lemon
▪️Mint Cooler – seedlip gardens watermelon, fresh lime, mint and soda
▪️Berry Passion – strawberry, passionfruit, cranberry juice and grenadine
▪️Ameretti – lyre’s amaretti, lemon juice, egg white and sugar with a marachino cherry

So if like me you are taking part in Dry Jan they have you covered.

On to the food I always tend to go for a prawn dish and this visit was no different although I did have scallops to start which were pan fried with crispy pancetta with a celeriac and truffle puree – delicious! Nicola had the King Prawns which was cooked with wine, garlic and chilli and looked to die for!

Our mains didn’t disappoint either I had my usual Prawn Linguine (Linguini All Diavola – tiger pawns, cherry tomatoes, baby spinach, chillies and tomato sauce) which is always a winner and Nicola had the Rack of Ribs (Agnello Rosemarino – rosemary and a red wine Jus served with wilted spinach and mashed potato) which was beautifully presented and in her words “cooked to perfection”.

I can honestly say I’ve never had a bad meal at Ciao Italia.

If like us you wanted to do a weekday visit they have a great affordable lunch and dinner menu from Monday – Thursday starting from just £19.99 for 2 – 3 courses or if you fancy a Sunday lunch they have a fabulous roast dinner menu with all the trimmings and a children’s menu with all main meals just £9.99.
