I know what nutritionists and psychologists say about celebrating with food, but I love all things food, so there is nothing better, in my opinion, than booking a special meal to celebrate.

If you have an anniversary, a milestone birthday or are just celebrating life (why not), and are looking for a fine dining experience, without travelling into London, here are some local, Surrey and SW London options:

The Cobham Ivy

The Ivy Cobham is a haven of relaxed but sophisticated all-day dining.

From modern British cuisine to brasserie-inspired classics and options for vegans and vegetarians, there’s something for everyone. While I’ve not been, I’ve heard that it has a great atmosphere and is a beautiful venue – great for all of your Instagram shots. I will have to make a plan to visit soon.

Find them @ High Street, Cobham KT11 3EF, UK

Le Raj

I was treated to the beautiful tastes of Le Raj Restaurant, founded by Enam Ali, many years ago. And I’d love to go back soon.

Their ethos? ‘To showcase the true height of Mughal cooking to British diners.’ Using ancient Bengal techniques, the team hand-selects the finest produce and spices from sustainable sources to ensure they bring the very best ingredients to life with every dish.

This Michelin-starred modern fine dining restaurant by Steve Drake has been on my list for a while.

Nestled in the Surrey Hills, in a cosy 300-year-old building, Steve and his team create culinary masterpieces for their set lunch and discovery menus. They are open from Wednesday to Saturday.

Find them @ 77 South Street, Dorking, RH4 2JU

The Ivy Guildford

I’ve realised, whilst writing this list, that there is a long list of fine-dining restaurants close to home that I’ve been meaning to visit, but haven’t got around to visiting yet. Might need to take my parents up on their babysitting offers soon.

Ivy Asia is top of the list with its Asian-inspired menu, eye-catching decor, entertainment and cocktails. Perfect for an intimate or group night out.

Find them @ Tunsgate, Quarter, Guildford GU1 3QY, UK

Absolutely whimsical, Beaverbrook is described as being ‘quintessentially English’. Overlooking the Surrey Hills, it is the perfect spot to indulge in beautiful cuisines, relax or celebrate. As well as being renowned for its spa, they have various restaurants:

• The Garden House Restaurant – Italian-style dishes

• The Dining Room – Japanese-inspired tacos and tempura, delicately flavoured sashimi, and more.

And more informal restaurants for stone-baked pizza or light bites.

Find them @ Reigate Road, Leatherhead, Surrey, KT22 8QX

The French Table

Showcasing modern French cooking in a comfortable setting. A guest described it as: ‘The food, the wine and the service is consistently faultless. Imaginative and perfectly executed food with the opportunity to pair with memorable wine.’

Located just down the road from us, in the leafy suburb of Surbiton, it provides exemplary cooking and friendly service. Definitely worth a visit!

Find them @ 85 Maple Road, Surbiton, London, KT6 4AW

The Light House

The Light House is well-established as a friendly neighbourhood restaurant, with a modern, international menu and a fantastic selection of wines.

Their à la carte menu changes daily in order to use the freshest seasonal ingredients, but you can expect dishes such as Pancetta-wrapped hake and Harissa marinated lamb.

Find them @ 75-77 Ridgway, Wimbledon Village, London SW19 4ST

Chef Renu B

Or, for a real treat, you could experience fine dining at home with a private chef.

Chef Renu B can help you to plan your perfect, bespoke dine-in experience. Using her expert culinary knowledge and her curiosity about flavours, Renu creates the most incredible personal food experiences – both in taste and atmosphere.

You can find Chef Renu B on the Epsom and Ewell Families Directory here.

Whatever the occasion, I hope this list helps you to celebrate in style.
