Typically in my household we always book our holidays at the last minute, it happened last year and it happened this year too even though we had good intentions to be organised.  The only time we have managed to book “in advance” was when we booked our wedding in Greece 5 years ago and even then it was only 5 months away!!!!

So for 2019 it’s time for change and I’ve vowed to be an early bird and by the looks of things I will save myself a penny or 2 and more.  I spoke to Raine Martin at Not Just Travel to find out the benefits of being super organised and here’s her top “5 reasons to book your holiday well in advance”:

1. Save up to 25% by booking early.
Suppliers offer incentives such as double figure discounts when booking early, free child places, in resort spending and on-board credit on cruises.

2. Pay small deposits.
If you are booking well in advance of travel sometimes you can pay a very small deposit to secure your holiday which gives you an opportunity to put a little away every month to spread costs. This can be as little as £10 per person in some cases.

3. Choose your dream holiday.
By booking early you have the best chance to travel on the dates you want, to go exactly where you want, to stay in the hotels and room you desire.

4. Flight prices tend to go up.
Whilst the lowest prices are not always guaranteed (you can occasionally find some great last minute deals – this is a risk though!) typically flight prices are cheapest months before take off and tend to move in one direction and it isn’t down!

5. Enjoy the build up to your holiday.
There are few more exciting things than booking a holiday. Once booked, you can sit and look forward to the beach, the slopes or wherever you have booked, safe in the knowledge that your trip has been secured. You can get excited by reading reviews, looking at local restaurant menus, booking local trips, knowing your dream holiday is at your fingertips!

Some great reasons and as a family of 5 it certainly makes sense for me to be more organised for next year and make use of free child places, 25% savings and paying in instalments instead of one painful big lump sum!

If you are like me and are usually when it comes to booking your holiday and you want to be super organised for next year then do give Raine a shout, being a mum of 4 herself she definitely knows the in and outs of what is needed for a great family holiday.

You can find her details here and the added bonus is her service to you is FREE!
