11 PLACES TO SPLASH THIS SUMMER – LIDO’S, PADDLING POOLS AND SPLASH PARKS…

You don’t need to travel on a fully inclusive break abroad to sit by an outdoor pool this summer (even though we all would like to!).  Around the area we have a large selection of Lidos, Splash Parks and Paddling Pools to keep you and your family nice and cool on a hot summers day.

LIDOS: (all under 10 miles from Epsom/Ewell apart from Guildford Lido: 17 miles)

BROCKWELL LIDO (10 miles)

Opened in 1937, Brockwell Lido hosts not only a 50metre pool but also a gym, sauna and steam, cafe and a crèche!
What’s not to love?!
It is a one stop health and fitness centre located within the stunning grounds of Brockwell Park. A great day out for the whole family.

GUILDFORD LIDO (17 miles)

A beautiful lido built in the 1930s, situated within Stoke Park.
The main pool is an impressive 50metres with facilities including a gym, cafe, mini golf and deck chair hire.
A great day out with parking available for lido customers.

Set in the grounds of Bushy Park, Hampton Lido really is a joy!

It is the only lido which is open 365 days a year!
Facilities include a learning pool, ideal for babies and toddlers and a cafe.
During the Summer, Hampton Lido plays host to Moonlight Dip, which allows swimmers to enjoy the pool under the midsummer nights sky.

A swimming complex within beautiful gardens, west of Richmond town centre.
A great place to visit on a sunny day to have a dip and walk around the stunning gardens.

Built in the 1930s, Tooting Lido is the UKs largest lido set within the beautiful surrounds of Tooting Bec Common.
However this is undergoing refurbishment and is closed until further notice.

Named after the mayor of Wimbledon, Sir Joseph Hood.
The park opened in 1931 providing the residents of suburbia an oasis to relax and play.
Facilities include not only a large paddling pool but tennis courts, crazy golf and a cafeteria.

SIR JOSEPH HOOD RECREATION GROUND

Not to be confused with Sir Joseph Hood Memorial Playing Fields in nearby Motspur Park, SJH recreation ground consists of not only a generous sized paddling pool but also hosts two play areas, a football pitch, cricket ground and outdoor bowling.

KING GEORGE’S PLAYING FIELDS

Hosting an impressive paddling pool, King George’s Park also facilitates an outdoor gym, a large playground, tennis courts and a cricket pitch.

MORDEN PARK

Originally Morden Park was part of the Morden Hall estate, owned by the Garth Family. (A road in Stonecott Hill is named after the family)
In 1945 it became a public park for all of the local residents and families to enjoy on their return from evacuation during world war 2.
The park consists of a large paddling pool, cricket pitch, multi sports play ground and an outdoor gym.

COLLIERS WOOD RECREATION GROUND

This beautiful park won the Green Flag award in 2009 due to its ornamental gardens. It really is a stunning park comprising of a paddling pool, children’s play centre, tennis courts and outdoor table tennis.

WIMBLEDON PARK

Located alongside the All England Lawn Tennis Club, Wimbledon Park is one of the largest and the best parks in the London Borough of Merton.

It’s vast facilities include a large lake, athletics track, play areas, tennis courts, paddling pool and mini adventure golf.
As well as a cafe which is open every day.

A beautiful park which consists of a splash area, a lake, an adventure playground and an award winning cafe designed by world famous architect, Dominique Perrault, who also designed the Bibliotheque Nationale de France in central Paris.
In addition to this beautiful park and cafe, the Woodland Trust provide various activities for children including nature and wildlife trails.
A must do for all families.
