10 PLACES TO GO FOR A ROAST DINNER IN AND AROUND EPSOM AND EWELL

Ahhhh, Sunday roast, the quintessential british grub, I love them as it’s one of the only days of the week my busy family gets to sit down and eat together. Whichever your favourite is – beef, pork, chicken, lamb or nut roast – they all become united as one with roast potatoes, veg and gravy!
Aware of just how many pans are used in preparing and cooking a roast (sigh!!!) I have put together a selection of some of the local establishments who will do the hard work for you, ensuring you can relax after you’ve eaten rather than clear up the after dinner mess.
In no particular order here goes:
A brisk walk through the woods of Epsom common could be followed by a visit to this pub overlooking a pond which offers a bonus of free top-ups of yorkies, roast potatoes and gravy with their Sunday roast menu. Dog friendly with a roaring open fire and board games for the family, it’s a home from home!
Renowned for it’s high quality food this popular haunt gets busy and is therefore worth booking in advance -a warm and cosy atmosphere makes this a welcoming place for families and couples alike.
A recent refurbishment (find out more about that here) makes this village gastropub a strong contender – their extensive wine list has something to suit every taste should you fancy a glass of something to wash down your roast beef!
Multi-award winning, not the cheapest option on our list, but plenty of parking and a small kids play area make this an ideal choice for families. It is worth noting that you can purchase a 33% discount card for a one off admin fee.
One of Epsom’s oldest pubs and nestled just off the common the management tell us that all ingredients are freshly prepared and locally sourced as much as possible, interestingly they also offer a tapas option alongside their traditional Sunday roasts.
If a no frills budget roast is what you’re after then this is your place! Served up buffet style you can go up for roast potatoes and veg as many times as you like, they also do bottomless soft drinks and are very child friendly. Often there are discount vouchers online.
With stunning views of the downs this Victorian building retains many of the original features including a balcony and outside seating perfect for watching the races! A great place for a Sunday Roast however please note no dogs allowed.
This friendly pub is a perfect venue for a family Sunday roast with a choice of sitting in the conservatory or in the enclosed garden making it attractive for families in the summer months.
Light and airy restaurant within a garden centre – work up an appetite by having a browse of the gift shop and extensive plant selection and then settle down for a roast between 12-3.30.
Relaxed atmosphere at this chain pub which offers a classic Sunday carvery, buffet style. Fun fact, it used to be a convent in the 19th century!
Enjoy your roast wherever you go!
